With the end of the tax year fast approaching, you may want to consider tax planning to maximise the use of your individual allowances, reliefs and exemptions as some of these will be lost if not used before the 5th April 2023.

HMRC’s gift aid scheme means that for every 80p donated to Heart of Bucks (HoB) the Government will top it up with a further 20p, so long as you can certify on a Gift Aid Declaration that you will pay enough UK tax to cover that 20p.

If you pay tax at the higher rates of 40% or 45%, you can make a further personal claim to tax relief via your PAYE code or Self-Assessment tax return – of 20p or 25p for every 80p paid.

That means that for a higher rate tax earner a gift of £80 will not only benefit HoB £100, but also attract personal tax relief for you of £20 or £25 thus reducing your net outlay to £60 or even £55.

“Supporting the local community is important to us, and there is no better custodian to do that than Heart of Bucks, who know Buckinghamshire inside and out and will use their expertise and experience to transform the lives of those living in our county.”

– Ruth and Henry Amar
