This fund has been established by Gawcott Fields Community Solar Project CIC using profits generated by the community solar project at Gawcott Fields.
This year we are looking to fund projects or initiatives which fit one of the two areas set out below:
Gawcott Solar Bizzy Kids fund
For local projects benefiting children under 7, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds. The themes are:
- Healthy living
- Creating safe and child-centred places to play
- Providing child development opportunities that are not included in the curriculum and don’t receive statutory funding (e.g. sport, drama, outdoor education, music, wildlife and farming, special needs)
- Alternatives to car-based transport for young children
Gawcott Solar Young Energy Champions fund
For one of more local youth-led (under 18’s) projects which support young people to develop and implement ideas to reduce carbon emissions in their community.
Which communities can apply?
As the fund was established by Gawcott Fields Community Solar Project CIC, grants are available to projects and initiatives in Gawcott, Buckingham and any parish that falls within 5km of the Gawcott Fields Community Solar Project (see map).
Who can apply?
The fund is aimed at clubs or organisations that are based within or operate within the local community. Applications must come from organisations which are formally constituted & operating on a not-for-profit basis. Funding is not available to statutory bodies.
How much can we apply for?
The total fund size this year is £9,000. We expect that the majority of approved grant applications will be in the region of £1500.
Gawcott Fields Community Solar Project CIC separately supports work in the area to help households struggling with fuel poverty – see their website http://gawcottsolar.co.uk/ for more information.
