Our role

Heart of Bucks is the county’s community charity, connecting people who care with local causes that matter.

We are part of a network of 46 Community Foundations across the UK, all striving to help people and organisations invest in their local communities.

As one of the largest non-statutory grant givers in the county, we have supported more than 3,500 community organisations since our first grant payment in 2000. To date, we have distributed over £7.5m in grants and loans across Buckinghamshire.

We have a unique understanding of the needs of Buckinghamshire and provide the easiest way for local people to give right to the heart of their communities. Our expertise and experience in assessing local groups and projects ensures that funding reaches those who need it most and can use it effectively.

Throughout the year, local charities and not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding for a hugely diverse array of projects. From the initial stages of expressing an interest in applying, through to a grant being awarded, organisations are assisted by our internal grants team. We are proud to offer custom support to ensure applications are of the highest standard before they are taken to panel. Our dedicated grants panel – who meet throughout the year to carefully consider applications – consists entirely of Buckinghamshire-based volunteers, whose experience covers everything from education to business and are a fundamental part of the application process.
