Local Giving shine the spotlight on Heart of BucksApril 28, 2016 11:06 am
We are thrilled to be featured in Local Giving’s blog as an inspiring story, celebrating the good work of local charities.
The recent Local Giving blog entry (which can be found here) highlights the sad truth that local charities often remain invisible, despite the amazing things they do.
At the end of March we started a campaign to save Hughenden Valley community shop after it was broken in to, burgled and then set fire to. Since the campaign, shop manager Louise Jones has been kept busy organising the rebuild, along with generous support from volunteers and local tradespeople.
The shop is on track to be be reopened, hopefully in June. So far the old shop building has been removed, drainage services are being installed and the Wycombe District Council modular building is due to be delivered to site next week.
We are also delighted to report that Hughenden Valley Community Shop were successful in their recent application to Heart of Bucks and have been awarded £5,000 for the provision of a new catering area and toilet facility with disabled access.
A huge well done to all involved.
