On Saturday 5 March, in the early hours of the morning, the police and fire brigade were called to the Hughenden Valley Community Shop as a volunteer arrived to open up for the day and discovered that the community store had been broken in to, burgled and then set fire to. This is an appeal for time, skills and donations to join together as a community to rebuild the shop. (www.valleyshop.org)

Wycombe District Council have committed to providing a modular building that was due to be demolished, but In order to rebuild the shop we need help from the following:
Experts in modular building reconfiguration
Specialist transport for portable buildings
General builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, shop fitters, decorators, interior and exterior designers, sign writers and suppliers, suppliers of kitchen appliances.

Many people have said the village seems to have ‘lost its’ heart’ since the fire, and there has been a noticeable difference in people being out and about in the village. The area was thriving and vibrant before these devastating events. We would really like to put the heart back into the village and rebuild the village shop and coffee shop, both of which are a hub and psychological centre of the area which many say has really brought the village together.

For more information on this appeal or to make a donation please visit www.localgiving.org/appeal/HVSOS/ or to contact Louise Jones (store manager) regarding offering direct support please email shopmanager@valleyshop.org
